ARTIST INFORMATION:
Beate Altenburg was born in Cologne in 1975 and started playing cello at four years of age. She graduated from the Royal Academy with a Masters degree in 2003. She has participated in master classes with Shakhovskaya, Isserlis and others, and worked with composers such as Vasks, Halffter, Maxwell Davies, Gubaidulina and Kurtág. She has performed throughout Europe and South America. She plays a cello made by Jean Baptiste Vuillaume.

This disc is Beate’s debut and will no doubt introduce her extraordinary soloist skills to a wider audience, presenting both familiar and less well-known works from the 18th century through to 2003.
