The flute ensemble Albireo shows a very high technical level on this production with out losing agility and empathy. The recording is highly praised by the composers themselves. One special feature of twentieth-century composition is the crossing over of the boundaries of conventional music. The difference between tone and noise becomes obscure; classical music is mixed with pop, jazz, and folk music. Aesthetic terms such as beautiful and ugly, pure and impure, etc. are questioned. At the same time there are countercurrents that hold fast to tradition or return to it. With this album Quartetto con Affetto goes in a completely new direction while searching for an extraordinary sound and, for the first time ever presenting a flute ensemble with percussion. The CD concept is based on the “Spektren” composing by Rudolf Kelterborn.
