Koos Verheul was for many years the principal flautist of the Residentie Orchestra in The Hague and professor of flute at the Sweelinck Conservatory. He has premiered compositions for flute and orchestra, conducted by Pierre Boulez and Hans Zender. He and pianist Jan van der Meer have been a regular duo for more then fifty years.
