A CENTURY OF FRENCH MUSIC
20th Century Music for Flute & Harp
Works by Debussy, Jean Cras, Henri Büsser, Serge Lancen, Maurice Ravel and Jacques Casterede
Duo Thaïs: Florence Bellon – flute, Caroline Rempp – harp
The attractive combination of flute and harp has always been popular in France, where the Duo Thaïs have performed regularly together since their formation in 1983. On this disc they survey 100 years of French music, from Maurice Ravel’s ‘Pavane’ of 1899, through to the first recording of Jacques Casterede’s ‘May Sonatina’, which was written for the Duo Thaïs in 1999. Florence Bellon is one of the world’s great flautists and, together with Caroline Rempp, enthrals the listener in these exquisite performances.
