Yaara Tal and Andreas Groethuysen, one of the world's foremost piano duos, have recorded an unusual selection of chorale arrangements by Brahms, Reger and Febel: Johannes Brahms's Eleven Chorale Preludes Op. 122, a late work verging on chamber music, Febel's seven arrangements of Bach chorales and Reger's grandiose chorale fantasia "Freu dich sehr, o meine Seele!" Op. 30.

 

The duo gave the world premiere of Febel's chorale arrangements of Bach's Orgelbüchlein, made in 1999, and of the Schübler chorales in 2004. Max Reger's Chorale Fantasia Freu dich sehr, o meine Seele! is

featured on this CD in its version for four hands in a world premiere.
