Bernarda Fink (mezzo)
Roger Vignoles (piano)
Brahms wrote 196 solo songs with piano accompaniment, but also numerous partsongs, choral works with orchestra, and ensembles for several solo voices: in all more than 300 vocal compositions. In addition to this, he also published several books of German folksongs, whose melodies and texts he took over from well-known anthologies of folk music while contributing his own piano accompaniment, thus shedding new light on these pieces.
The Argentinian mezzo Bernarda Fink is no stranger to harmonia mundi! She has sung in numerous opera productions and has made over fifty recordings. Many of these recordings have been awarded special distinctions, such as Gramophone Awards for Caldara's Maddalena ai piedi di Cristo and Handel's Giulio Cesare, and, more recently, La clemenza di Tito, which was unanimously acclaimed.
Among the highlights of Roger Vignoles' extensive discography are recitals with Susan Graham, Véronique Gens, Katarina Karnéus, Stephan Genz, and of course Bernarda Fink.Their recent recital of Dvorák songs met with considerable success and an Editor's Choice in Gramophone.
