Sir Charles Mackerras

 

Conductor Sir Charles Mackerras, one of the greatest authorities on Czech music, especially Janacek and Dvorak, and

still very a very active musician, will celebrate his 80th birthday on November 17th.

In his honour, Supraphon is re-releasing the album of Dvorak's Slavonic Dances, which he recorded with the Czech

Philharmonic in Prague's Rudolfinium concert hall in 1999.
