Radio Symphony Orchestra Stuttgart / Roger Norrington
Bruckner’s 6th Symphony has remained one of the composer’s least performed orchestral works. This neglect is unjustified on many levels – it is one of Bruckner’s most “concise” symphonies and one of his most direct and bold musical concepts. Throughout his exploration of Bruckner, conductor Norrington has discovered that Bruckner conceived his works as vast musical dramas and not merely as “abstract” works of art. Together with the “Pure Tone” performance practice of the SWR Sinfonieorchester Stuttgart, it is Norrington’s goal to reveal the hidden “dramas” that exist in Bruckner’s vast, musical canvases.
