“To hear Mullova play Bach is, simply, one of the greatest things you can experience”, wrote the London Guardian. ONYX can now announce Viktoria Mullova’s first complete recording of the Bach Sonatas with harpsichord, partnered by one of the world’s greatest keyboard players, Ottavio Dantone (director of Accademia Bizantina). Recorded March 2007 after a sold-out European tour
Viktoria Mullova records for the first time on her new Guadagnini violin of 1750. Using Baroque bow and technique, as she always does in pre-romantic music.
Double digipak format with 4 language booklet and article by Dantone
In BWV1014-1019 Dantone uses a new harpsichord (2007 Oliver Fadini) after C18th Silbermann.
For the other two Sonatas he plays a chamber organ by Francesco Zanin and is joined by Baroque specialist Vittorio Ghielmi and Luca Pianca for the continuo. BWV529 is originally a Trio Sonata for organ and is recorded here for the first time on organ, violin and continuo.
