• Two of opera’s biggest names come together in this fabulous gala concert, recorded at the Sydney Opera House in 1986.

 

• Joan Sutherland and Marilyn Horne met and performed with each other for the first time in 1961, in a concert performance of Bellini’s Beatrice di Tenda. Theirs was to be a brilliant and lasting partnership, giving rise to innumerable performances, both on stage and in the concert hall, of the bel canto repertoire.

 

• This concert is the ideal showcase for these two legendary prima donnas, giving a representative survey of the extraordinarily broad repertoires of both these exceptional singers. Each performs as soloist in a variety of songs and arias, and of course they join forces in stunning bravura operatic duets.
