On Alliage’s second release on MDG, familiar favourites of the Romantic period are presented in a new guise with a unique sound - a pianist and a saxophone quartet, but without the strings. This blending of old and new, of tradition and modern, forms the basis for the masterful playing on this disc. The debut CD of the Alliage Quartet was awarded an ECHO Klassik prize in 2005.
