While hearing Natalie Dessay is great: seeing her is even better. There is no other singer in the opera world today who knows how to inhabit the character like Natalie. Whether playing Manon, Lakmé, Ophélie or Lucia, she always manages to find some element to satisfy her incredible talents as an actress.

 

She has also an immediate rapport with the audience, a presence which enables her to light up the stage and communicate so eloquently that she deserves every one of her accolades.

 

The DVD brings together excerpts of Natalie performing in productions worldwide which have made her name including her signature role of Olympia in Offenbach’s Le Contes d’Hoffman, the Queen of Night in Mozart’s The Magic Flute, the character of Fire in Ravel’s L’Enfant et les sortileges and many more. In addition to the live footage, Natalie offers little anecdotes on the productions prior to each performance.
