Glenn Gould and Bach - it is a unique and one of the most exciting artistic pairings of the 20th Century. The Canadian pianist was the vanguard of a revolution in Bach performance on the modern piano, and these great recordings document this for the best. Gould approached the master without false piety, but with undisguised curiosity, and the impetuosity of youth: at the time of these recordings, he was about 20 years old.
These live performances from Toronto with the CBC Orchestra and the 1960 performance from Detroit with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra were digitally remastered in 2011. Accompanied by Misha
Mishakoff, Violin and Albert Tripton, Flute (on the Brandenberg recording), this shows Glenn Gould at his finest.
