The discs containing Bruckner Symphonies 6 and 9 have never been released before.
The Munich Philharmonic was one of two orchestras that Gunter Wand regularly conducted before his death. After his first performance with the orchestra in 1957, his popularity soon grew in Munich and he became a welcome guest conductor.
However, his recordings were never released during his lifetime as they were stern competition to his recordings with the NDR Symphony, Berlin Philharmonic and other recordings made by principle conductors of the Munich Philharmonic. Today, almost six years after his death, it is high time to document his work with this top orchestra.
