Penelope Lynex (cello)

Penelope and Alexander present a selection of the most attractive and interesting cello and piano works in the current repertoire, from the more well-known soulful Elegies to the more moving works such as
David Wilde’s commemoration of a bombing in Sarajevo, and Dickinson’s Threnody.
Penelope Lynex studied with Paul Tortelier in Paris after graduating from the Royal Academy of Music in London, after a distinguished student career. She and Alexander Wells have built up a large repertoire which includes unusual items besides the better known and extends from Bach to the present day. Penelope’s publications include Cello Ideas: A Practical Guide. She has performed in Europe, Hong Kong, Australia, New Zealand and the USA.
Alexander Wells has a varied career as accompanist and chamber musician, with a speciality as a choral accompanist. After taking a degree in Modern Languages at Cambridge he went on to study at the Royal College of Music with Stephen Savage and Alasdair Graham, training later as a répétiteur at the National Opera Studio in London. He has worked on the music staff at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, at Glyndebourne and with many other companies.
