Stefan Engels continues his survey of Karg-Elert’s complete organ works with this latest release which contain the 22 Easy Pedal Studies Op. 83. However this title is misleading as they provide the player with a wide experience of pedal playing, ranging from simple to advanced, as part of a varied collection of organ pieces, requiring the use of two and preferably three manuals. Completing the CD are two Symphonic Chorale’s Op. 87 – substantial works and technically demanding. The programme was recorded on the large three manual Furtwangler and Hammer organ in the Marienkirk, Saltwedel, Germany in 2011.
