The first work on this CD is the concerto in E minor for flute and orchestra by Mercadante and is the only piece associated with this Neapolitan composer who devoted most of his compositional time to opera. Whilst this work has its links to world of opera the other two pieces are connected to song (Doppler) and a symphonic poem (Karłowicz).
