Vingt Regards Sur L’Enfant – Jésus is a collection of pieces for solo piano and was composed in 1944 for Yvonne Loriod. The work’s twenty movements last around two hours and the whole piece is a meditation on the childhood of Jesus. Eugeniusz Knapik recorded the work in 1979 and was one of the first world recordings of the cycle. It was due for release in 1981 but dramatic events in that year and the imposition of martial law (Poland) shattered those plans and the recording for many years rested in the archives of the Polish Radio. Today, it comes to life after 32 years…
