The varied programmes the Leipzig Chamber Orchestra has presented for more than a quarter of a century have earned it international renown. Its repertoire reflects the developments in NEuropean and international music over more than three centuries. Ever since it was founded, the Leipzig Chamber Orchestra has regularly performed in the various concert series at the Gewandhaus and appeared in many centres of musical excellence in Germany and at a large number of music festivals. It has under-taken concert tours of Spain and Asia and several of Great Britain, Scandinavia and the USA. A series of recordings testifies not only to the Leipzig Chamber Orchestra’s artistic excellence, but also to the versatility of its members. Recordings of the classical repertoire, like Telemann’s orchestral suites, Haydn’s cello concertos and Louis Spohr’s overtures, exist side by side with titles like “Yiddish Music”, with the Leipzig Synagogal Choir, and the most recent “Klezmer Chamber Music”, with Giora Feidmann as soloist.
