“The Signum Saxophone Quartet may be considered as one of the best of its kind”, the Rheinische Presse headlined in November 2010 about a young ensemble which has gone a remarkable way in the international concert business. Many concerts, e.g. at the Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, the Classic-Young-Stars–International Festival in Berlin, in the Beethovenhaus Bonn and the first prize at the Torneo Internazionale di Musica in Verona (Italy) 2010 in the category chamber music give good proof of this assertion. In March 2011 the quartet won a coveted scholarship of the Deutscher Musikwettbewerb.
“Arrangements and adaptations are always grounds for discussion. Our selection criteria take into consideration the playability on the saxophone and the maintenance of the authenticity of the piece. Of course a saxophone quartet sounds different from a string quartet, a piano or an orchestra. Nevertheless through extreme precision and a vast interpretive analysis we hope to succeed in creating a metamorphosis which makes possible a fusion of the most important stylistic aspects and a new sound effect.” (Signum Saxophon Quartet)
