This second CD is of the famous Willis Organ in Liverpool’s Anglican Cathedral finds Ian Tracey in fantastic form in a mixed recital the centre piece of which is Karg-Elert’s ‘Homage to Handel’ – recorded in a single take. Also included is Flor Peeters Suite Modale and music by Dandrieu, Widor, Charpentier, Bossi, Yon, Stanley and Handel.
The CD comes with all the original notes and pictures from the legendary LP sleeves and has been re-mastered from the original master tapes which were issued as an LP and EP in the early 1980’s.
Ian Tracey is in splendid form and the recording captures the enormous acoustics of this cathedral superbly. The organ (one of the largest in the UK)
